Soil Type
Tomatoes can be grown in many soil types but in general they need a well-draining substrate. Cultivation is also taking place in artificial substrates.
Temperatures
Optimum day temperature for growth is 18 to 25oC and night temperatures between 10 and 20oC.
Water Requirements
Furrow and drip irrigation are both utilized. Tomato is one of the few agricultural crops that can tolerate a certain level of salinity.
Nutrition Requirements
Subject to soil analysis for nutrient availability.
Harvesting Period
Generally speaking, the crop is ready for harvesting 70-140 days from transplanting depending on the variety and on cultivation conditions.

Tomatoes are planted throughout the year:
- Southern part of Jordan Valley: January - February
- Middle part of Jordan Valley: May - June
- Northern part of Jordan Valley: June-July
- Safa Crop (hilly areas): July-November
